Bad words used on a BAAD Girl

By Stephfon Guidry

Sticks and stones may break our bones but words can hurt your credibility and consumer sales, as Dutch magazine Jackie is finding out. Jackie magazine decided it was a compliment or maybe just a shocking comment to label international recording Superstar, Rihanna, the “the good girl gone bad is the ultimate n****bitch!” Such a brazenly racist and offensive statement seems out of touch with the progressive times of political correctness, tolerance, and equality.

Jackie, a Dutch fashion magazine, features a section on how to copy & paste a celebrity signature style. Shocking statements focusing on the cutting edge style of Barbados-born beauty, Rihanna from Jackie states: “She has street cred, she has a ghetto ass and she has a golden throat. Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate n***abitch and she displays that gladly–for her that means what’s on can come off.” ( Using strong language like “ghetto” and lude remarks about her throat served as a double edged sword to the magazine as it hit stands and the internet.

The magazines editor-in-chief, Eva Hoekes, issued a public apology and then her letter of immediate resignation from the publication from the resulting backlash. Eva Hoeke gave a very PC unapologetic apology to Parlour magazine saying, “I realize that my first reaction through Twitter, in which I indicated that it was a joke, has been an incomplete description of what me, and also the author of the article, meant. The term ‘niggabitch’ came from America and we solely used it to describe a style of dress”. Boldly the magazine publisher, Yves Gijrath, spoke candidly saying that there was nothing wrong with the statements made by the magazine and that the statement of apology only undermined the integrity of the former editor-in-chief.

Rihanna says “Talk That Talk” and therefore made her own comments about Jackie on twitter: “”I hope u can read English, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000’s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, which made no sense…”N**** B****”?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…F*** YOU!!!” (The Marquee Blog)

Rihanna “Sexiest Woman Alive” Covers Esquire Magazine!

By Melvin Browne

Rihanna gets dirty for this month’s Sexiest Women Alive Issue for Esquire. Crowned “the Sexiest Woman Alive” Rihanna details to Esquire editors about her everyday life and her routine while she’s touring. Here’s what Rih had to say:

ESQ: Does anyone ever recognize you out in the audience?

RIHANNA: Sometimes, but I’m too close for them to freak out. If they touch me, somebody’s going to tackle them. Last time I went out there I threw a bra on stage once.

ESQ: That you were wearing?

RIHANNA: Hell, no. Are you crazy? We found the girl with the biggest ass and a girl with the biggest breasts in the whole tour and we took their panties and their bra to the stage and threw them out there.

New Music Video: Rihanna “We Found Love”

By Melvin Browne

So Rihanna blessed us this week with the music video to her 1st single “We Found Love” from her new album “Talk That Talk” in stores November 21st. Filmed in Ireland, the video “somewhat” reflected Rihanna’s situation with Chris Brown. Featured in the video was boxer-model Dudley O’Shaughnessy, who plays Rihanna’s love boo and he “somewhat” resembled ex-boo CBreezy. I LOVE this Song and the Video is definitely worth watching. So check it out ENJOY!

No Shows at the Award Show

By Stephfon Guidry

BET Hip Hop Awards entertained, opened ears and made you laugh; it mended a friendship that was long overdue for some forgiveness.  Truly da King of the South is the rubber band man, as T.I. bounced back with flexing (iHope he didn’t FLEX too much in jail) rhymes and his classic swagger the crowd welcomed his return. Atlantic Civic Center opened its doors to urban hip hop legends Heavy D, DMX, Da Brat and more.

First let me dish out all those tweeting #WINNING from their velvet seats last night:  Chris Brown took four awards all for his club banging, douging hit “Look at Me Now”, Lil Wayne scored meager two awards #IdemandAreCOUNT, Nicki Minaj won two as well and Kanye West, Jay-Z, Waka Floka Fame and more. Rap titan himself nominated for a dominating 18 nods receiving only two, Lil Wayne aka Lil Tunchi, gripped the coveted Lyricists of Year and Best Live Performer awards.  Rihanna found the love enough to comment positively on Chris Brown’s night of #WINNING, “It’s incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him.”  ( Performances that turned heads and kept the crowd fresh on the beat from the most notable Cyphers: Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Maybach Music Group, and Chris Breezy himself.   As the heavyweight lover grabbed the mic it took the show back to 1988 hits, beats, and a groove Heavy D a Hip Hop legend rocked the mic right.

“It ain’t a red carpet. It’s a sidewalk, bloody from the wolves eating red meat, and these spotlights don’t come with money — they come with police,” spoke LL Cool J to a rapt audience hanging on every word. LL Cool J challenged the newcomers to the game to use their mic for a message leaving the award show and hip hop with a charge of a new direction GLEE.

BET New Sitcom “Reed Between the Lines”

Following the Hip Hop Awards or Hood Honors premiered the black sitcom “Reed between the Lines”, featuring the talents of Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Tracee Ellis Ross. Daughter of the Diva and the quintessential only son of the most iconic African American family in television history (the Cosby Show, if you don’t know you have lived under a rock for eons!) come together to create their own merging of laughs, love and life lessons on a show all about the black family of today facing its problems together. Reed Between the lines l isn’t an open book or a NY Best seller and it needs some time to grow—yet the actors’ chemistry flows through the screen.  The show provides some comedy, casting that gives young and seasoned black actors a chance; Ross gives a convincing psychologist and Warner plays a professor eloquently.  I predict, Reed between the Lines potentially may tackle everything from maintaining marriage intimacy, raising children, keeping a family together, and life with friends as well as life with family—Ross and Warner just snagged a viewer in me. So tune in to BET on Tuesdays at 10 ET p.m. and catch “Reed Between the Lines”.

The infamous and viral sensations were out Sunday night playing dress up alongside the celebrities at the 52nd Grammy awards!! I was definitely glued to the red carpet to see the hits, hot-messes but never envisioned I’ll have that many gawks; some worth mentioning and others I had to let simmer!!  So lets dig in:

Best Dressed:

John Legend: Heaven only knows John Legend’s stylist was sent from Heaven to wrap him up in such fine clothes! The mesh vest was giving me everything but John has always been a very dapper dresser. I am not surprise!

Usher: Mr. Raymond was actually my second fav after Legend! A tasteful mix of polka-dots and plaid!!

Common: Wasn’t too common last night…his entire look was fresh!!

Maxwell: Suit was well fitted and I absolutely love the dark brown on him.  Extra delicious!!

Adam Lambert: He was giving a lot of “HomoCouture” in this outfit!! Me likey!!

Pink: Pink showed she’s in a good place both professionally and personally!   Her aura and dress on the runway was very elegant and even her performance was giving me a lot!!  Her gradiated grey dress from……was tasteful and one of the best red carpet ensembles of the night!

Keri Hilson: Was gorgeous at the Grammys! I love how the nude colored gown played against her skin

Katy Perry: love this look on wild girl Katy!!

Taylor Swift: Although I don’t agree with Taylor getting album of the year, I do agree with her dress. It was sexy and age appropriate!!

Miley Cyrus:  I was even more impressed with Miley Cyrus who was age appropriate in this….. number!  And I love how she kept it short!

Notable Mentions:
Trey Songz:  I love his outfit because he managed to add that sequined bowtie which made his regular black suit stand out amongst the others that did something similar!!

Lady Gaga: What will an award show be without Gaga’s eccentric outfits?  I thought she was going to be more out there, but she actually managed to wear outfits that can be worn to the MET Open gala. I expected her to be in a costume and I champion her risqué “unsembles”… so she has to be a Notable mention!!

What they were thinking:
I don’t want to call this section worst dressed because they were some ridiculous people walking that carpet but then again they are not worth focusing on!!

Travis Barker: It’s no excuse to look like this because you’re a drummer and it’s worst to make your son look the same!!

MusiqSouldchild:  Purple suit = Barney and his golden-yellow feet!!

Akon: Ok Akon, we know you discovered her but to wear a FAN t-shirt to the Grammys is not needed!!  You’re not going to the VMAs!!

T-pain: Left the studio and came to the Grammy’s; ’nuf said…

Britney Spears: I guess this is the reason why Britney was whisked away pass the press on the red carpet!   Why Britney? I love you, but even one of the costumes from your Circus tour would have looked better than this!

Black Eyed Peas: The boys obviously went to Beyonce’s “costume” designer!!  It’s only 2010, NOT 2020!!

Ciara: CeCe… Nice attempt but NO!!  You should have given this outfit to Britney’s date!! You’re a MUSE for GIVENCHY!!  They must have a stylist you could have borrowed.

Beyonce: It’s a good thing she didn’t choose one of tacky Tina’s outfits, but she obviously decided to go with the costume designer from Battlestar Galactia!! Please return the earrings to the Cairo museum B, you know we expect better from you!!  Hmmmm!

Rihanna: RiRi dress was gorgeous but a little mature for this young starlet. The neckline, the accentuated hips…I love Rihanna but this dress on her was a no!

The Situation & Snookie: Why were they invited?? Oh!  He was actually an Access Hollywood Correspondent for the Grammy’s… Wow!  Plus he needs to realize abs are not the best accessory when wearing your turquoise satin prom shirt to the Grammys!!

General Larry Platt “Pants on the Ground guy”:  My biggest question was why was he even featured on the RED CARPET!? He is an elder and all but seriously!! Leave him to American idol & the View! Obviously Lil Wayne, Eminem and Drake didn’t hear his “Anthem”!
