HC Thirst Quencher: Robert Christopher Riley

By Melvin Browne

I don’t know where you are as you read this article, but here in NYC it has been HOT as Hell! This summer’s heat not only brings the sexy bodies out, but brings out the nastiest attitudes in people. But its OK, I got you! Here’s a bottle of smart water and this week’s thirst quencher, Brooklyn native Robert Christopher Riley.

I recently discovered him on VH1’s new hit series “Hit the Floor”. Robert plays Terrance Wall, the star player on the Devils basketball team. Robert, Terrance, whichever name you prefer, but he is fine as hell! He has this steamy sexy look but somehow still manages to appear to be a man you could take home and marry. I mean just looking at him makes me forget its 96 degrees in this hot ass humid high-rise lol! Well enjoy these pics and get into his character on VH1’s “Hit the Floor”, every Monday at 9/8c.

Fearsome Fights and Fixed Friendship

By Stephfon Guidry

Basketball Wives of Miami gears up for its return with a trailer that slaps some realness into reality TV. It appears from the snippet of the show that Evelyn Lozoda is more than pissed off at Jennifer Williams. Evelyn is seen climbing on tables to pounce her frienemy and she even gets a slap or two in.  Fans gain guilty pleasure as the glue that binds the inner circle of Basketball Wives seems to melt apart this season as we meet new girls and watch the veterans loose it. The trailer had more beeps and F*Bombs than M.I.A. at the Superbowl—ThatShytCray. It’s more real than wrestling, these ladies do fight and they do argue, and some B*tch is getting hit with a bottle! Tune in to VH1 on February 20 8/7 C for the REAL Basketball Wives of Miami!

Bombshell Evelyn Lozada!

By Stephfon Guidry

Hot temperatures and hot tempers follow the ladies of the hit VH1 show Basketball Wives of Miami. Evelyn Lozada, a bombshell from New York now living the high life on the beaches of Miami and soon to be hitched to Chad Ochocinco, shows her fans of single men what they are missing in the new Urban Ink ( photo shoot. She takes long hair red bottoms to a whole new plateau in a tasteful and tempting lingerie shoot. Evelyn spoke highly of the shoot, ““I was so thrilled and honored to shoot with Maxim magazine! This was one of the most professional and best shoots I’ve ever had.” (  A mother, wife-to-be, and reality TV star Evelyn never ceases to amaze or stay out of a little bit of drama with her other cast mates in girlfriends from Basketball Wives of Miami.

From Friends to Frenemies, Evelyn Lozada now rumored to be at odds with her bestie and Basketball Wives cast mate, Jennifer Williams. Jennifer, who currently lives in New York when not shooting the show, has become close friends of Nene Leakes, of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta. Apparently it doesn’t sit too well with Evelyn for Jen to be friends with Nene. Evelyn clarified this now is selling Bitch you Ain’t in the Circle t-shirts on her website. Jen hit the UNFOLLOW button for her on twitter after shade was thrown. Jennifer clearly told Sister2Sister magazine her feelings on the matter, “”I’m at a point in my life where I’m getting rid of all of the negative energy, including my soon-to-be ex. So, my thing is like, nobody’s exempt at this point. If you’re bringing some negative energy and drama into my life, I’m good.”

High heels and high drama will be returning next month in February as the VH1 hit Basketball Wives of Miami Return for Season 4 with two new cast members (& yes NO MEEKA)!

Can’t Get Enough TV: GG, BBWLA and BGC!

By Stephfon Guidry

Getting my gossip on the girls, more iLovetoHateOnDraya Show, and I checked out some more Bad Girls doing what they do best. It’s time to dish about the divas and drecktitude (lingo from Andre Leon Talley) of the television week.

Amen for the internet, I caught up on all the “I do’s and Don’ts” of this fresh sizzling season of Gossip Girl and not a moment too soon. Serena starts the season in Cali, with Chuck and Nate. While Chuck is on a self-destructive “Yes” tour; Serena in a sentence went from New York to the new face on a movie set and back to the Upper East side as a working girl. Blair Waldorf is pregnant! CueBEYONCEbabyBumpRub and after attempting to hide it from the prince she concedes to listening to Dan Humphrey—and the pressure of Black Mail from the princess. Blair’s reveal is premature because she still has a secret of who really is the father of the baby. Ivy returns stealing the identity of Charlie again, I see no happy ending for that Cinderella.  Dan Humphrey’s book Inside will be sure to surprise and shock all of the upper east as it tell all the secrets from a realistic fiction (all too Real). Gossip Girl is not just a show it’s my weekly addiction and I can’t get enough of this season. Tune in to the CW Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

It’s ironic that the NBA Lockout is juxtaposing to the Basketball Wives: LA social lockout of Draya on the show. It ended once Jackie SideEye takes Draya under her wing, only to complain and gossip about Laura. Gloria Govan and her hubby grab the kids head to the Bay to get them right with the LORD (a Christening of course). Jackie, Malaysia and Draya all head to an upscale event where Jackie is in the thick of things and in the middle of the drama. If Jackie would be upfront about her feelings rather than be passive aggressive, well then the show would be boring—Jackie is the Nene of these Housewives Oops I mean Basketball Wives.

Rihanna’s S&M lyric, “I may be bad but I’m perfectly good at it” must have been written to talk about the tumultuous and rambunctious ladies of Bad Girls Club. Season 7 has women making more wars under one roof than men have had in the eons of history in the history books. Judi doops Cheyenne into to following her to a Voodoo Museum, to meet Cinnamon aka the Voodoo Queen—as spooky as it is ridiculous.  The Queens advice is that Judi bring all the girls to back with the doll for some ritual—something for the cameras. Apparently you can take the girls’ outta the hood, and fly them to Barbados. All of the girls seem to get along and have a civil time except for Tasha. Tasha complains more than she parties, not without dressing in so little clothing I wonder if it’s really her size. These girls are anything but dull and seem to play more mind games than Brain Age; I cannot wait to see when it all falls down.

EXPRESS Yourself! Photo-shoots & Fights!

By Stephfon Guidry

It’s time to catch up on all the gossip, judging, drama, and get ready for some entertainment. This week on BBWLA one of the wives gets ghost on the show and on Top Model while one girl has a life and death scare the girls audition to work with the dead.

Drop dead beautiful doesn’t mean a photogenic diva, with ANTM All-stars. This week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 17, features the girls in an acting challenge for a role on CSI and a photo shoot with chocolate Adonis David Agbodji for EXPRESS!! Yes ma’am Yes girl!  It was shocking that Angelea got best photo and Bre won the acting challenge being told that she delivered the role, with a classy authentic edge. Sadly the bottom to beauties don’t surprise me Lisa, while her antics and Wild Child persona work for some it did not translate into the photo shoot this week. Camille a lady who’s walk did make her famous didn’t bring enough charisma, uniqueness nerve and talent (Oops wrong show!) to the table. The One photo left in Tyra’s hands was Lisa’s I guess being a Wild Child does win out over being a DIVA

Meanwhile on Basketball Wives: LA, Ms. Kimsha Artest decided that the show was not for her after only two shows, the fans feel ripped off. But the producers told VH1, “..After a limited number of days shooting she stopped showing up for filming. This is the sole and only reason Kimsha has not appeared on more episodes of the series.” (  In the past episode they literally found a LEGAL loophole and a person “simple” enough to get a beatdown—Draya got in a mixed martial arts ring with Laura and went down for the count. It was revealed, that Gloria and Matt apparently are not as close to the altar as Matt thought. It becomes “high school” Mean Girls-esque as these grown *** women Google Draya just to dredge up more dirt. As the drama erupts at Beso, during a girls WhoRuntheWorld night out and Imani proclaims, “I don’t care how much you deny it; I will never believe you.”

BET Hip “Hood” Hop Awards are coming next week so get ready for the Hennessey on deck and the rhymes to hit the stage. Lil Wayne aka the Who Dat Nation great Black Hope is dominating the show with 18 nominations! T.I. is free and ready to open the show with more rhymes than Dr. Seuss the show will have everyone in the crowd, DVR-ing, and at home rocking in the seat. The Oh so Classy and Lip-Licking King LL Cool J will be receiving the coveted I AM HIP HOP ICON award as well as an homage to Game Changers, like Lauren Hill, Queen Latifah, Run DMC and more. Gear up for next the BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday October 11, 2011 8 p.m. ET with performances by Rick Ross, Lupe Fiasco, DMX, and Wiz Khalifa as well as the Rap Cyphers.

The Fall Line-up is just beginning you don’t want to miss a moment. Catch the Wives on VH1 on Mondays at 8/7c!

Basketball Wives Reunion Special

By Krystle Carmona

A while back we all heard the rumors that one of the ladies from VH1’s reality show Basketball Wives was detained by the boys in blue for assaulting another cast mate. Well part of that, okay almost all of it is actually true; and was all captured on Sunday night’s reunion special.

It wouldn’t be made for TV reality without a little messiness added to the mix and boy did the messiness come, arriving in groupie form status covered in plastic, at least that’s what Shaunie, Jen, Evelyn and Royce felt about rival Sandra (who is not really a cast mate, just a, well…groupie?)  However, it was ex-wife of baller Michael Olowokondi, Suzie who acted upon her actions by reenacting the water scene…ya’ll remember when Sandra walked up on Jen, Suzie and Royce at lunch, got into a heated argument and then BAM, Suzie throws her cup of water all in that girl’s face…welllll, this time instead of a cup, she decided to dump what seemed like a bucket or vase-like object full of water all over the plastic beauty.  I mean, we’re talking water everywhere.  After the expected name calling, security interference, etc etc, the camera cuts to a commercial and when we return, no more Suzie or Sandra L Not saying she deserved it, but the girl Sandra was talking pretty reckless…I’m just saying.

But on a lighter note, the show was filled with some high and dry (ha ha ha) points for a lack of a better word.  It even got a little emotional when Royce expressed her feelings of being accepted by the girls, overcoming the stereotypes that they and many others had placed on her, particularly Evelyn.  Jen talked about her relationship with former NBA’er Eric Williams and her reasons for staying and working on their marriage.  Personally, I really like Jen, but umm, sadly she may be a little naive, however, we’re hoping for the best girl!

Shaunie added her commentary on why she created the show and discussed her issues with Gloria, who was a NO SHOW by the way and we reminisced on past shows of Evelyn and her blind dates, which added much comedy to the show and disclosing little information on her hacker/stalker dilemma.  I must say that overall this reunion special was quite entertaining.  I felt like the ladies were being “real” for the most part really inviting us into their situation allowing us to form and make our own assumptions and opinions about their lives…cause Lord knows I got mine.  But, as the credits rolled, we were informed that there will be a Season 2…so for all you Basketball Wives fans look forward to more drama, cattiness and I can almost bet my last dollar on it, way more plastic!

VH1 Honors The Dirty South

By Krystle Carmona

Hip Hop.  Pronunciation: hip hap. Function: noun.  According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, a subculture especially of inner-city youths who are typically devotees to rap music.  However, rap music is just a product of the culture.  Hip Hop is the artistic expression discovered all over subways and alongside buildings.  Hip Hop is the sounds brought to life by DJs and MCs.  Hip Hop is Break Dancing and so much more.  Hip Hop is a way of living.

Monday night marked another year and another celebration of hip hop, as true pioneers were recognized and honored by VH1 and so many artists who owe much of their success to those artists who have paved the way for them. The honorees included: The Dirty South! That’s right, the entire dirty dirty!  However giving special recognition and shine to:  The 2 Live Crew, J. Prince, Jermaine Dupri, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, Master P., Organized Noize, and Timbaland

This year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors opened up with a skit from comedian and host,  Craig Robinson, getting a dirty south makeover from the one and only Lil’ Jon…YEEEAAAHH!  And to complete his transformation, was adorned with custom made Paul Wall grills.

First on the list of honorees was Luther Luke Campbell, but we all know him best as “Uncle Luke.”  Luke created the South’s 1st hip hop label, which gave artists like, The 2 Live Crew, Trick Daddy, Trina and Pitbull, their start.  Dubbed “The originator of Miami Bass,” Luke changed the face of the South.  In true Luke fashion, he, along with Trick Daddy and Pitbull hit us with the ever so classic party anthem, “Do Do Brown,” and yes, massive booty shaking everywhere.  Don’t front, yall was rocking too, it’s okay, we won’t tell nobody!

J. Prince, next to bat was the face of Rap A Lot Records and the voice for the ghetto.  The Game, Bun B, Drake, Do or Die and Juvenile were among the artists who paid homage to an original ghetto boy.

Funny man Jonah Hill introduced the next honoree, Atlanta native and SoSo Def founder, Jermaine Dupri.  The Franchise Boyz and company rocked out to “Oh I Think They Like Me.”  Bow Wow brought back the backwards fashion hitting the stage with a Kriss Kross classic, “Jump” then later his own hit, “Fresh As I’m Iz.”  JD also hit us with a bar on “Money Ain’t a Thang” and lastly ended with Diddy on the remix track “Welcome to Atlanta.”  Atlanta definitely did their thing.

Next, Romeo who is far from little and looking more like a young cut Nelly honored his father Master P.  for not only building No Limit Records from the ground up, but being a part of putting southern hip hop on the map.  Gucci Mane and Kid Capri were also a part of this tribute.  Silk the Shocker and Trina brought us back with their hit, “That’s Cool,” but the crowd went crazy when Mystikal came out with “Make Em’ Say Uhh,” surrounded by camouflage beauties that we remember oh so well from the No Limit crew.

The city of Atlanta was even honored, with an appearance from T.I. and performances from the Ying Yang Twins, DJ Drama, Bone Crusher, and Gucci Mane.  ATL had us all “getting low” and fueling our confidence with “I Ain’t Neva Scared.”

Missy then paid homage to her longtime friend, Timbaland who not only brought a new and eclectic sound to the game, but introduced us to a different realm of music, infusing sounds we hadn’t quite heard of yet, not together at least.  Fabolous, Kerri Hilson, D.O.E., Bun B and Sebastian were just some of the few to honor Timbaland last night.  But it was those Missy/Timbo classics, such as “Get Your Freak On” and “Work It” that we remembered what we loved about Mr. Tim Mosley.

David Banner and Kelly Rowland introduced Slim Thugg, Chamillionaire and Paul Wall who also hit the stage giving respect to their state, Texas.

The 2 Live Crew, who explained in their video that they made records from a comedian standpoint, but was taken way too serious had us in laughter once again as they performed a medley of their hits, including “Me So Horny.”

Chilli and Lauren London then introduced one of Atlanta, Georgia’s hottest production teams, Organized Noize, who is responsible for TLC’s “Waterfalls.”  Nelly, Murphey Lee, Asher Roth, Kujo, and Sleepy Brown hit the stage performing The Dungeon Family anthems reminding us that ATL  is here to stay…so “Whatchu Really Know About The Dirty South?”

It was only fitting that VH1’s new sister and brother team, Brandy and Ray J make an appearance as well.  The show ended with an all star performance from Miami’s finest, Trina, Flo Rida, Rick Ross, and Pitbull and let’s not forget, DJ Khaled who was all over the stage doing what he does best.  Overall, the VH1 Hip Hop Honors was entertaining and lived up to the performance scale.

So tell me…when was the first time you fell in love with hip hop?
